PD26 part 8: It's a Wrap

I think we're getting the packaging "wrapped" up, pun intended. We have the black tin which houses the magnetic puzzle. There is a permanent white vinyl decal on the top of the tin for branding. Bottom has a product description sticker (with the URL which was too hard to weed in vinyl). Inside is a folded catalog of the puzzle set printed on recycled paper. Then I created a cardstock wrap that the tin slips into which is available as Labeled or Mystery. I do think the handmade labor involved in assembling these does warrant a price bump compared to my initial pricing thoughts.

Ok thinking of ways to reduce labor and maybe cost. We're going to switch the top vinyl for a sticker. The weeding is so iffy and tedious (looks rough) Will test if white logo or color. That will also reduce need to keep extra vinyl in stock. The other iffy material is the laminate on the puzzles. I do like that it thickens the puzzles and adds a layer of protection however I lose almost half my perfect print outs to bubbles or wrinkles from the laminate. If we find a thicker magnet paper it might be worth the time and error margin to risk it on the cutter. I can make the order and if it's too thick we shelve it until we get the upgraded cutter. If too thick for printer, maybe sticker on magnet? Will have to do some testing.

Did a quick test with thicker magnet paper. Printer wouldn't read it so I tried vinyl sticker on it, which worked. Ran it through the cutter and it cut beautifully. It does feel more substantial than the original magnet sheets. It's almost twice as thick. I'll do further tests on glossy and with smaller pieces before signing off. We're getting closer to "wrapping" these up!
